Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions about our consulting, platform, and philosophy, answered.
About Our Services & Platform
What is the relationship between your consulting and the CU 360 platform?
Think of it as the "architect" and the "blueprint." Our consulting is the hands-on expert guidance where we partner with you to design and build your frameworks. The CU 360 platform is the digital "command center" where those frameworks live, breathe, and are sustained as a "Living System."
Can I use the CU 360 platform without a consulting engagement?
Yes. You can sign up for the CU HealthScore module completely free. The CU Strategy and CU Governance modules are available via a software-only subscription, which includes our ebooks and user guides.
However, the platform's maximum value is realized when it's powered by one of our consulting engagements. We help you build the custom strategic plan and governance framework that makes the software truly your own.
Do I have to subscribe to CU 360 if I hire you for consulting?
No. Our consulting engagements are valuable on their own. However, the CU 360 platform was built as the direct answer to our clients' biggest challenge: "How do we make sure this new framework doesn't just end up in a binder?" The platform is the engine that sustains the system, creates a living audit trail, and ensures your framework is executed long after our on-site work is done.
About the CU HealthScore
Is the CU HealthScore module really free? What's the catch?
Yes, it is 100% free. There is no catch, no trial period, and no credit card required.
We believe every credit union leader should have access to a clear, validated, and holistic diagnostic of their institution's health. We provide it as a service to the industry, confident that it demonstrates the power of our diagnostic-first philosophy.
Where does the CU HealthScore data come from? Do I have to enter it myself?
No manual data entry is required. The platform automatically ingests all 5300 data points for every U.S. credit union directly from the NCUA call report feed every quarter. Your data is always up-to-date, secure, and ready for analysis.
How is the CU HealthScore different from CAMELS?
CAMELS is a regulatory rating focused on a historical, point-in-time view of risk.
The CU HealthScore is a holistic performance model focused on institutional health. It's a statistically-validated, 20-year, percentile-ranked score that acts as a forward-looking early-warning system. It also includes a fifth pillar for Member Engagement & Growth, which is critical for long-term resilience but is not part of a traditional regulatory exam.
About Our Consulting Engagements
What does a typical consulting engagement look like?
Our engagements are multi-year partnerships, not one-day meetings. We guide your board and C-suite through a structured, hands-on process to build and implement your "Living System." We are facilitators and expert advisors, and our goal is to build your team's internal capacity to manage these frameworks effectively.
What are the "Risk Type Compass" (RTC) and "EQ-i 2.0"?
These are our Leadership Dynamics tools. A perfect plan can fail due to misaligned human dynamics.
- The Risk Type Compass helps us map your board's collective risk appetite to ensure it aligns with your strategy.
 - The EQ-i 2.0 (Emotional Intelligence) framework helps us improve the effectiveness of boardroom dialogue, build trust, and enhance decision-making.
