Event Announcement: 2026 National Director's Roundtable Conference

From October 12–16, 2026, credit union leaders from across the country will gather at CU Conferences' National Director's Roundtable Conference at Paris Las Vegas in Nevada. This event is designed for boards of directors, board chairs, CEOs, and supervisory committee members seeking actionable solutions to the industry's most pressing challenges.

Glatt Consulting founder Tom Glatt will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for this year's conference. In addition to guiding the event's flow, Tom will lead two specific sessions focused on transforming governance from a compliance exercise into a strategic asset.

Tom Glatt's Conference Sessions

Pre-Conference Workshop: Board Liabilities and Responsibilities: A Systems Approach to Oversight While many directors view "liabilities" through a narrow legal lens, the greatest risk to a credit union is often not a lawsuit, but a board that is disengaged or focused on the wrong things. In this interactive workshop, Tom will move beyond the standard checklist of fiduciary duties to explore the "Six Pillars of Oversight"—a modern framework that organizes vast board responsibilities into actionable domains, including Strategic Direction, Financial Stewardship, and Board Effectiveness.

By mapping core duties to this "Living System," attendees will learn how to build a governance structure that naturally mitigates risk through rigorous, proactive performance, ensuring the board serves as a strategic asset rather than just a compliance checkpoint. The session will also explore practical ways to embed continuous improvement into a credit union's governance culture.

General Session: The Psychology of Risk: How Personality Shapes Decision-Making Every strategic decision is filtered through the personality of the leaders making it. During the main conference, Tom will deliver a general session leveraging the Risk Type Compass framework to explore the human side of governance. The session will dive into how leaders can discover their own inherent risk disposition, and more importantly, learn how to balance differing personalities within the board and executive team. Understanding these dynamics is key to avoiding "groupthink" and executing a resilient strategy.

Conference Agenda Highlights

The National Director's Roundtable offers an exceptional agenda. A major benefit of this conference is the opportunity to network, learn from, and share ideas with credit union peers during roundtable discussions organized by asset size.

The conference features a highly acclaimed team of presenters and industry experts. Throughout the week, speakers will address pressing industry questions and operational challenges, such as:

  • What is the evolving role of the financial services branch, and what branch and workplace design trends are shaping the industry?
  • How have workplace expectations changed for today's banking workforce?
  • How are institutions elevating member and employee experiences to create competitive advantages?
  • When are Employee Benefit Pre-Funding Agreements (EBPAs) and Collateralized Debt Agreements (CDAs) appropriate tools versus when restraint is the better decision?
  • How should boards evaluate equity exposure relative to total balance sheet risk and obligations?
  • What practical governance questions must boards ask before approving non-traditional investments?

Event Details & Registration

For leaders ready to step away from the daily operational noise and focus on high-level strategic oversight, this conference will deliver an excellent educational return on investment.

We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas and helping your board build a more resilient future.
